Unwritten Rules Project

The Unwritten Rules Project is an independent social campaign created by Black and allied creatives in the wake of George Floyd’s murder, because we were simply tired. Tired of the violence. Tired of the silence. And tired of Black Americans feeling like their stories didn’t matter.

Inspired by the Green Book, this digital encyclopedia captures the “unwritten rules” Black people navigate daily—these unspoken codes shaped by systemic inequity. Each entry offers a candid look into the Black experience, paired with actionable steps for change.

This is not a brand play or awards piece. It’s a grassroots educational tool designed to spark awareness, challenge privilege, and push for a more equitable future for all.

With any passion project, it takes a village of talented folks to make it all happen. Everyone listed here built this project from the ground up during our free time (mostly nights and weekends). Beyond proud to be a part of this team.
